IBM releases social collaboration tool Verse

In the end of Q1/2015 IBM will release the "freemium" version of IBM Verse.

IBM has announced its new ‘freemium’ social collaboration Verse that uses built-in analytics to retrieve information from a range of services.

Verse integrates email, meetings, calendars, file sharing, instant messaging and social updates through a single collaboration environment.

It features ‘faceted search’ which enables users to retrieve information they’re seeking across all the types of content within their email.

Verse’s built-in analytics provide an ‘at-a-glance’ view that surfaces an individual’s most critical actions for the day.

By learning unique employee preferences and priorities over time, it provides instant context about a given project as well as the people and teams collaborating on it.

“The convergence of analytics, cloud, social and mobile technologies is not just impacting our personal lives, it’s profoundly changing how we work,” said Bob Picciano, Senior Vice President, IBM Informat…

Google Nexus 9 update to Android 5.0 can cause Notes Traveler to stop working

Flash (Alert)

If a user has installed Notes Traveler on a Google Nexus 9 device, and has also chosen the external storage option, then upgrading the device to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) can cause Notes Traveler to crash and become non-functional.

This is a known, open issue with the Android 5.0 upgrade on Google Nexus 9 devices wherein the underlying database code identifies files as read only when they are not. This issue can cause Notes Traveler to crash and not work at all after the OS update.

To avoid this issue:

-- Option 1: Postpone updating the device to Android 5.0 until the issue is resolved.
-- Option 2: Prior to updating the OS, uninstall Notes Traveler and then reinstall choosing the internal storage option.

To recover from the issue:

For a device that has already updated and is experiencing crashes, uninstall Notes Traveler and then reinst…
