IBM Notes & Domino are not vulnerable to OpenSSL "Heartbleed" bug (CVE-2014-0160)

Information is circulating describing a method called "Heartbleed," which exploits a vulnerability caused by a design error in OpenSSL. This technote provides confirmation that IBM Notes and Domino are not susceptible to the Heartbleed attack.

IBM Notes and Domino are not vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug because they do not use OpenSSL as the basis of the SSL stack in the products. Note that this includes both the Domino SSL stack as well as the TLS implementation supported by the IBM HTTP Server in 9.0. Notes Traveler is also not affected.

Creating Templates for Ephox EditLive!

If you have the request for creating templates for the Ephox EditLive RTE in IBM Connections, you can easily convert your HTML code to the needed URL code by Copy/Paste your HTML content here:

On this website it´s also possible to decode the already listed templates in the RTE.

Helped me a lot  ;-)

Httpd.cnf deleted during Domino server upgrade

IBM TechNote

You upgrade seven Domino servers to 9.0.1 and six of them lose their Httpd.cnf file during the upgrade.
As the upgraded servers initialized, the following was recorded in log.nsf:
HTTP Server: Using Web Configuration View
HTTP Server: Unable to read httpd.cnf
HTTP Server: Shutdown

Neither the dominoinstall.log or upgrade.log made any reference to deleting this file.

It was discovered that after the upgrade the \domino\icons folder was missing. The servers that did not lose the httpd.cnf file still had their \domino\icons folder.

The "Web Services Data Files" option was not selected during the install. Deselecting this option will remove the files specific to HTTP from the previous installation, specifically, the httpd.cnf file.

Resolving the problem

As a workaround, copy the httpd.cnf from another server to the other six servers.
Use caution when you uncheck available options during installation. Previously set options will be removed if not selected.

IBM Technical Support recommends making a backup of this file before upgrading, especially if customizations have been made to the file.

Changing settings in Ephox EditLive for IBM Connections

Changes for the Ephox EditLive RTE can easily be done by modifying settings in the configuration files located here:

 < IBM Connections shared data>/customization/javascript/ephox/editlive/

For example changing the default font ( which has to be done in the CSS file ).

After some modification you only have to clear your browser cache, reload the current page ( e.g. the Wikis ) and open the editor again and voila => all modifications are displayed.

IBM Connections 4.5 CR4 available / NOW WITH FILE SYNC !!!

IBM releases the latest CR4 for IBM Connections 4.5.

List of fixes:

The following new functions are available within the CR4 - especially the option to create folders inside of Communities is a very valuable enhancement:

1. Include hashtag (#) in a reply to a status update

This function adds supports for Hashtag in microblog comments. Now, when you click on a hashtag in a comment in News and in the replies section of an activity entry you are directed to a search result page returning all status updates and comments that have the corresponding hashtag. Only content created after CR4 is installed and the feature enabled will be clickable.

2. Include a file link in reply to a status update

This function adds support for posting a file in reply to a status update.

3. Expose activity stream search in the user interface and filter by hashtag

This feature allows the submission of tags with events so that home page tag searches finds them

4. @mentions via the activity stream API

This feature allows 3rd party applications to submit events that appear in the @mentions view of the activity stream

5. Community Folders

In addition to sharing personal folders to Communities, you can now create folders in a Community and use them to organize files within that Community.

6. File Sync for Mobile
File Sync is an extension to IBM Connections that synchronizes files between a user's computers (including mobile devices) and the IBM Connections server.

By default, File Sync is disabled in IBM Connections. To enable and configure File Sync, please follow the steps in the Configuring File Sync for mobile page in the product documentation.

Thanks a lot to Klaus Bild for sharing
this very helpful information with us on his blog...

7. Push Notifications for Mobile
This feature enables notifications to be sent to mobile users about Connections events.
