IBM Notes Traveler 9.0.1 and the "authentication problem"


After an upgrade to IBM Notes Traveler no new user was able to authenticate against the IBM Domino Server 9.0.1. The error message was

Command 'user FirstName LastName' failed because the user FirstName LastName does not have IBM Notes Traveler access rights.

This error is misleading because the another feature produced this error. The user is listed in the group of having access to the Notes Traveler.

The cause for this error is the following: if the "Unread marks" setting in the mail database is set to "Don´t maintain unread marks", this error occurs.



So for every new Notes Traveler user this setting has to be enabled. Alternatively with the following NOTES.INI setting the "Unread mark" settings automatically is set on the users mail database and everything is working fine again:

NTS_BACKENDMANAGER_SET_UNREAD_REPLICATION = true
